Want Great Hair? 3 Tips For Keeping Your Locks Eternally Beautiful

Yes, some people are blessed with great hair, but that doesn't mean that they don't put in any effort to keep their hair looking beautiful. People who consistently maintain a polished, glamorous look aren't simply blessed, they're dedicated, which is great news for you. If you put in a little bit of effort, your hair will look beautiful too. Following are three tips for keeping your locks eternally beautiful.

Go to the Salon Regularly

You should get your hair cut every four to eight weeks, depending on your hair's needs. If your hair is short, bleached or color treated, see your stylist every month. Short hair needs to be trimmed regularly to maintain its shape, and chemically treated hair gets frayed faster, especially if you curl or straighten your hair every day. If you are big on thermal styling, get a trim every six weeks. If you have long hair that's in good shape, however, you can go up to eight weeks between haircuts.

Just don't go too long. Not only do you risk sacrificing length due to split ends, it will be harder for your stylist to see and follow the lines of the last cut. So you may not get the same result.

Use the Right Products

Products are vital for maintaining your style between salon visits and should be tailored to fit your exact needs. For example, sulphate-free and color-protecting shampoos are ideal for color treated hair. If you use a clarifying shampoo daily, however, you could actually strip your color. Styling products are just as important. If you don't use the right products, you won't get the look you want. There's a reason why there are dozens of products in each styling line; they all serve different purposes and create different looks.

Avoid the Sun

Sun damage can make your hair look terrible. Common signs of damage include discoloration, frizz, breakage and dryness. To protect your hair from the sun's damaging rays, be sure to wear a hat or sit in the shade if you're going to be outside for a long period of time. Also, look into styling products that offer UV protection. Even a little bit of exposure can do a lot of damage, so it's best to protect your hair at all times.

As you can see, there are several things you can do to keep your hair looking great all the time. In addition to seeing your stylist regularly, be sure to use the right products and avoid the sun.
